On Thursday I am heading over to Melbourne for my first ever blogging conference and boy am I excited! While I have been blogging for over a year now, I really only discovered the lovely community of Australian bloggers on twitter about four or five months ago and it’s been interesting getting to ‘know’ them all and learn from them!
There are the Mummy Bloggers, the Business Bloggers, the Celebrity Bloggers, the Sport Bloggers, the Journo Bloggers, the Author Bloggers, the UBER Bloggers … and everyone in-between. I have learned something from all of them over the last five or so months and thus I can’t wait to finally meet some of these people in real life (or IRL!)
In addition, speaking at the conference will be two of the UBER Bloggers I admire the most.
First is Darren Rowse. He is THE Problogger and also the organiser of this little shindig. I remember being disproportionately proud last year when I found out that THE Problogger was actually from Australia! Ever the nationalist I am! I have listened to interviews with Darren, followed him on twitter and read his blog and one thing stands out for me amongst all else – he is one seriously nice guy. He also manages to fit in all his work around a young family and I am interested to find out how he does it.
I am also interested to hear how Sonia Simone does it because even though I recently broke up with her, the reality is that when this lady talks, I listen. I am so excited that Sonia is coming to little old Australia to talk to us! I am a bit torn because the first split session on Friday puts her up against Phoebe Montague who is talking about monetizing your blog. Aaargh – I really need to know more about monetizing my blog(s)!
Sonia – if I don’t come to that first session it’s because I have already listened to every IMFSP podcast and of course, “Creating Content that Builds ‘Know, Like and Trust’ Relationships” features in one way or another every week. But if you’re going to cover stuff I won’t have heard before – please let me know!!
As for the rest - I am just excited about learning more about something I am passionate about. Blogging has given my love of writing such a lovely outlet and I am so keen to see where else I can go with it!
